“And
the tempter came and said unto him, if thou art the Son of God, command that
these stones become bread.”
Mathew 4:3
The
only way to be free from every oppression of the enemy is to know the truth,
(John 8:32). It is also not enough to know the truth but also to stick to it,
because from time to time the truth will be tested. Everything you believe will
be subjected to test by the devil from time to time, therefore the truth is
whatever you choose to believe and if you truly believe it, no matter what
happens you will remain steadfast with it.
From the above scripture the devil came to tempt
Jesus based on the truth in His life which he believed preceding the temptation
in the wilderness was Jesus’ baptism by John at river Jordan after which the
heavens were opened and the voice came from above. “And lo a voice from heaven, saying, this is
my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”(John 3:17). Jesus was tempted based on what He knew and believed; He
knew he was the Son of God even before the Father’s testimony of Him, He was
tempted and He overcame by sticking to the truth, He was not trying to prove
any point to the devil, He refused to negotiate or compromise His stand with
the truth. Is your truth also threatened and you are contemplating giving in?
Or prove a point? Stick to the truth and you will also overcome in the name of
Jesus!
