Covenant is an agreement between two or more parties
with a promise of fulfilling a certain obligation when a certain condition is
fulfilled. A covenant is different from a promise because of its rigidity and
in the case of God and man irrevocable. “My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is
gone out of my lips.”(Psalm 89:34)
whatever things that proceeds out of the mouth of God cannot be reversed. Every
of God’s words and promises are covenant in the making because the moment the
condition necessary for its fulfillment are met it will surely deliver. There
are more than 8,000 promises in the Bible that can be attributed to the covenant.
Over the ages God entered into covenants with men like Noah, Abraham, and David
and others.
The covenant with David was everlasting in nature that long after
David was gone he will forever be remembered
“My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast
with him. His seed also will I make to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.”(Psalm
89:28-29) the fulfillment of this covenant
was with the coming of the Lord Jesus through the lineage of David and Christ
was referred to as the Son of David, this is the covenant name of the Messiah
and anytime, anywhere this name was mentioned, Jesus always responded promptly.
The anchor scripture was one of the occasions when the covenant was invoked and
the response was prompt, the blind Bartimaeus heard Jesus was passing by and he
invoke the covenant name and Jesus though in the midst of the crowd stood still
and commanded that he should be brought, and he got his healing(Mark 10:46-52).
Are you ready to invoke the covenant by calling Him by the covenant name? Then
